Libra Full Moon: Social Revolution through Personal Relationships

With the springtime Sun in Aries, the full Moon occurs in the opposing sign of Libra.  As the first sign of the zodiac which initiates our annual solar cycle, Aries is the sign of the self, the raw individual fueled by a primal, vital energy.  In the last month, several planets have traversed this region of the sky, and the Sun is strong in this placement.  Libra, is symbolized by the Scales and opposes autonomous Aries as the sign of diplomacy, harmony, and balance by mediation. While Aries is raw, Libra is concerned with the finer things in life--philosophy and aesthetics, music and the arts, and the pursuit of peace.  A fairly straightforward dynamic, the polarity of Self and Other highlighted this full moon is complicated by its proximity to a long-standing aspect configuration of the outer planets.

The outer planets are located much further from the Sun, and therefore require more time to complete their orbits.  Their distance relative to us means they travel quite slowly through the wheel of the zodiac--Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto take 85, 165, and 248 years to make a full cycle, respectively.  When outer planets move into position to create an aspect configuration with one another, the active influence can last for years. This full moon we are given a chance to reconcile how our personal life is being affected by our social environment.

Virgo Full Moon - Service, Sacrifice, and the Seeds of Change

full-moon-496873_1920.jpg

On the morning of March 12, we have the final full moon before the Vernal Equinox starts a new solar cycle the following week.  This full moon is fraught with difficult aspects and dissembling energies.  The Sun is conjunct the asteroid, Chiron, who represents wounding and healing. Meanwhile, Saturn makes a hard aspect to Mercury, involving the luminaries (Sun and Moon) in a T-square. Let’s take a closer look to see how we can shift our perspective and use the current operational forces as opportunities for our personal growth.

Better Late Than Never! Choosing Conscious Living

The Journey

--Mary Oliver

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice – – –
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
‘Mend my life!’
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.

You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations – – –
though their melancholy
was terrible. It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.

But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice,
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do – – – determined to save
the only life you could save.

Improve at Wintersports…with Yoga?

FullSizeRender_46.jpg

Are you hitting the slopes regularly but feeling your progression is slow? Maybe you're losing motivation, or you're noticing some tight spots in the body, or maybe you just end the day feeling like you crashed into a tree (without any actual crashing). I know I've felt these Tahoe struggles, too many times. A couple years back I started doing a short yoga routine everyday (well..almost) before heading up the mountain. Seriously, even just a short 15 minute yoga routine (or stretching, like my boyfriend prefers to call it when he joins in -insert eye rolling emoji here-) makes a world of difference!

AQUARIUS: Sign of the Time

IMG_8501.JPG

The practice of Astrology involves uncovering the interacting layers of archetypal energies influencing our lives.  The association of the different planets and signs with archetypes emerged organically as our ancestors observed which constellations and celestial objects were overhead during the changing seasons of both Earth and Humans. Utilizing the expansive body of knowledge derived from these observations, we can gain insight into all aspects of life.  In late January, the Sun moves into Aquarius, where it remains until the end of February. To get a basic understanding of what this means in our lives, let’s consider how our astrological forebears classified Aquarius by its planetary rulership, element, and modality.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

 FullSizeRender_28.jpg

There’s a school of thought that I’ve begun to make forays into recently that goes back centuries: It’s called Ayurveda, or the ‘science of life’; otherwise known as a ‘mind-body health system.

Ayurveda is based on the understanding that the mind and body are inextricably interconnected. A sickness of the body can be healed by the mind as long as it is operating at it’s highest potential. Four years ago I was diagnosed with a chronic health condition - an inflammatory bowel disease called Ulcerative Colitis. After suffering for prolonged periods of time with debilitating flare ups, I began to make quite drastic changes to my diet in an effort to restore the balance in my body and to fight the disease from the inside out. Hence my current, and growing interest in Ayurveda.

Go With the Flow

Yoga_Playlist.png

Really amazing things are happening on all of the planes of our organization. Before we spill the beans, let's reflect on our progress over the last year of long nights, countless meetings, empty coffee cups, and friendships forged. All of that energy is finally manifesting into something truly tangible. In celebration, our founder shares her favorite mix of tunes that helps her stay focused & driven; on and off the mat.

For those tired of complacency; brave enough to forge their own path // Who never settle; are driven and adaptable // Who challenge personal and societal boundaries; following their fire // Who act with intention, and lift others up in the process //
This is for you.
